Letter from Pastor Alec

Dear Washington State Pastor:

You and I have been called of God to lead the sheep of His pasture in the State of Washington during some of the most spiritually urgent days of recent history. The forces of darkness, rampant and unrestrained in our culture, will only be withstood and overcome if the people of God live in repentance and righteousness and are led to call on the Name of the Lord for a spiritual awakening in our day.

The network of Sound the Alarm pastors was formed in 2004 in Washington for the purpose of uniting the Church of Jesus Christ in our state in repentance, in prayer for spiritual awakening, and, as needed, in united action. The initial motivation for forming the network was in response to the militant homosexual agenda being forced on our state through legislative and judicial activism. The motivation for continuing and expanding the network is the recognition that the primary need in Washington State is a spiritually awakened Church, living out God's love and righteousness in daily life.

To this end, a group of pastors from all over Washington State have joined together to Sound the Alarm (Joel 2:17). We have set aside our denominational and doctrinal differences to unite our hearts before the Lord as one Church.

The Executive Board of Sound the Alarm realizes that there are many important cultural and spiritual issues that face our state and nation.

  • Decency Issues
  • Life Issues (abortion, partial-birth abortion, embryonic stem-cell research)
  • Marriage Issues (protecting and defending biblical marriage, strengthening and defending the family)
  • Pastoral/Church Crisis in our state
  • Reconciliation Issues
  • Religious Rights (freedom of religion)
  • Social Justice

We believe that these issues are just symptoms of the real issue - our spiritual bankruptcy. We join an increasing number of voices in America to call for revival in the Church of Jesus Christ. We believe that radical transformation within churches of all denominations and doctrinal persuasions, will effect lasting change in our culture.

If the Church doesn't act now, then when? If these aren't the issues to rally us to prayer, what will it take? If we, God's people, seize this moment, perhaps God will stay His hand of judgment against His Church and against this land and send the revival we so desperately need.

Serving with you,
